Transportation to Disney Cruise Lines

Cruise TicketsSandy Baker

Getting transportation to Disney Cruise Lines is not hard. The company helps passengers with transportation issues during the reservation process, but some flexibility is required.

For those taking the Disney Magic or Disney Dream from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean or Bahamas, Disney Cruise Lines help arrange your transportation. Guests fly into the Orlando International Airport, and then take a Disney motor coach from the airport terminal to Port Canaveral. In many cases, Disney travel guides will help you book your flight when you reserve your cruise.

It is important to plan for air transportation as early as possible. Many people will benefit from booking directly with Disney Cruise Lines for this. If you do, the company provides you with ground transportation from the airport to the cruise terminal, without any additional cost.

Once you book your flights you can view the details of your trip as early as 45 days prior to the date of your embarkation. To do this, simply log into the My Online Check-In, an online portal for cruise goers. You can also call Disney Cruise Lines directly at (877) 566-0967 to confirm information about your trip.

Once you gather your flight information from the Disney representatives, the next step is to contact the airline directly. Doing this will allow you to arrange your seat assignments on board the plane. If you need special arrangements, such as special seating or special meals, you can make arrangements through your airline to meet your needs. Also, if you are using a frequent flyer account, be sure to provide this to your airline at this time. There are a few things to note about booking your airline tickets through Disney:

Disney Cruise Line selects the airline; you do not. The company also has the right to designate any schedule from the available options from your city. You can make requests for specific airlines, flights or times. To do this, you must request the Special Air Request Department at the time of booking. Also, there is an extra fee for this service. You can modify your airline tickets by contacting the company for a Flight Modification Form. A Disney representative will contact you to help you make changes.

There is also a fee for canceling a flight. This fee may be as much as 100 percent of the add-on costs for some flights. You should request information about cancelation in advance if you are concerned about the fee.

Once you arrive in Orlando, you need to get to the port terminal. To do this, make arrangements early on in the planning process. When you book your cruise and transportation through Disney Cruise Lines, the company will send a Documentation Packet that contains all the information you need to get to the cruise port. This includes specific luggage tags. Prior to checking in at the airport, place these tags on your luggage and your bags will be automatically transport to the cruise ship.

You will receive vouchers for your ground transportation on Disney's Magical Express, the motor coach bus offered by Disney. After you land in Orlando, follow the signs that take you to the ground transportation level. From there, you will get on the appropriate Disney motor coach and will be on your way to your cruise terminal.

Transportation to Disney Cruise Lines is straightforward and easy to manage when you use the company's services. If you don't you will need to book your own transportation through a travel agent or other means.

If you wish to book transportation to Disney Cruise Lines on your own that option is available. You can purchase airline tickets for a time convenient for you. In addition, you can travel by taxi to the port. If you decide to book flights outside the Disney transportation options, it is a good idea to contact Disney Cruise Lines to make ground transfer arrangements to get you from the airport to the terminal. It is recommended you do this at least 75 days in advance to secure a spot.
